Abstract:
Objective The aims were to figure out the base of earthworm species diversity in Tianjin and to enrich the database of earthworms in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei areas.
Method Earthworms from various habitats in all districts of Tianjin were collected using the hand sorting method. Morphological and molecular species identification were conducted, and the total nitrogen, organic matter, pH and electrical conductivity of the soil from the collection sites were measured. The Shannon-Wiener diversity index, Pielou's evenness index and phylogenetic diversity index for earthworms were calculated
Result ① 11 Earthworm species belonged to 6 genera and 3 families in Tianjin were found. ② The dominant species in Tianjin were Aporrectodea trapezoides from the family Lumbricidae, Amynthas hupeiensis, and Metaphire tschiliensis from the family Megascolecidae. ③ The phylogenetic diversity index of earthworms was significantly correlated with organic matter and electrical conductivity (P < 0.05). ④ Drawida japonica, M. tschiliensis, and D. gisti exhibited a high number of genetic lineages.
Conclusion D. japonica and Ap. rosea is a new record for the region. Tianjin. D. japonica, M. tschiliensis, and D. gisti indicate strong genetic differentiation. Tianjin immenses genetic diversity in earthworms, which may be related to its coastal location, the Haihe River basin, higher soil moisture, and limited use of agricultural pesticides and fertilizers.
