Relationship between Soil Magnetic Susceptibility and Heavy Metal Content around Tow Mining Areas—Taking Cangyuan and Gejiu lead zinc ore as an example

Abstract: Farmland soil samples were collected around two mining areas in Cangyuan and Gejiu, Yunnan, and the correlations between soil magnetic susceptibility and heavy metals were investigated. The results showed that the low-frequency magnetic susceptibility (χlf) of the soil around the Cangyuan mining area was only significantly positively correlated with the available Cd. The χlf around the Gejiu mining area was significantly positively correlated with the Pb content, and was extremely significantly positively correlated with the Zn content, while had a significant negative correlation with the content of available Cd. The correlation between χlf and organic matter, pH and electrical conductivity around the two mining areas was not significantly different. This study was helpful to explore the relationship between soil magnetic susceptibility and heavy metals in a mining area.
