Abstract: China and Japan are close neighbors and have a long history of friendship. As a pedologist, I have been visited Japan for many times since 1978 and have the honor to participate in academic communications in related fields of soil science, including participating in the Agricultural Science Investigation Mission of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, attending the 14^th International Congress of Soil Sciences and the meeting of the Soil Federation of East and Southeast Asia ( ESAFS ) held in Kyoto, Japan, discussing and cooperating with well-known Japanese soil scientists, assisting in the publication of the Japanese version of 《Soils of China》and the mutual visits of Chinese and Japanese soil scientists. The author's experience and feeling are briefly reviewed for reference.
